Answer the question actually asked
Follow the application instructions and scoring criteria. Use the funder’s section order when possible. Put the requested information where the reviewer expects to find it.
- State the need with relevant evidence
- Describe activities and responsible people
- Define a realistic timeline
- Connect the budget to the work
Replace broad claims with proof
Use specific facts, results, partnerships and experience. Explain the source and date of important statistics. Avoid promising outcomes the organization cannot measure or control.
Edit for the reviewer
Remove repetition, undefined acronyms and unnecessary background. Check every number across the narrative and budget. Ask someone unfamiliar with the project to identify unanswered questions before submission.
